Given recommendations, I have finished reading two amazing books and watching a movie about the 1994 genocide. As expected, this has increased my anxiety about moving to Kigali. Fortunately, I have the freedom to take a step back (emotionally) and separate myself from the history, so I can make my own judgments based on people's individual personalities and my unique experiences with them. Let me know if you are interested in these titles to learn more about the genocide (which some say lasted until 1998) and the west's contributions to it.

Wow, my first "comment." I am so thrilled and happy for you-an adventure in every way! Blessings for safety, incredible learning and enough hand sanitizer for 12 full amazing months!

Jules,
As I write this, you are flying over (one or the other) ocean on your way to London --- with tickets in hand to Kigali. You are embarking on the journey of your life. As much as we are going to miss you --- we are excited for you and can't wait to hear LOTS about how everything's going, what you're doing, etc.
Love,
Mom

BF,
It's really amazing how quiet it is in San Francisco without you. The entire city paused when you left but your photo, the huggy one, is signing to me.
Yet you embody the concept of ten, tonight I realized what you are searching for in Africa. I've wagered a guess and put it in the bet book.
Stay warm & well fed, make good friends and let Evie, Jerome and Woodrow watch over your travels as you trod along the path you make.
Love,
BF jr.
